What does the Bible say about spiritual gifts?
I receive the gift of the Spirit and let it work through me to build the body of Christ, the church.
But when he comes, the spirit of truth, he will guide you into the whole truth; for he will not speak from himself, but what he will hear, he will speak, and what will be in the future, he will announce to you.

Strive for love, but also strive hard for the spiritual effects; but most of all that you prophesy!
1 Corinthians 14,1
But everyone is given the obvious work of the mind for general benefit. For one is given a word of wisdom by the spirit, but another is given a word of knowledge according to the same spirit; another belief in the same spirit; another gift of healing in the same spirit; different effects of miraculous powers, different divination, differentiating different spirits, another different types of languages, another the interpretation of languages.

It is the same with the lifeless instruments that make a sound, be it a flute or a harp; if they don't give certain notes, how can you tell what is played on the flute or on the harp? Because you will talk in the wind. There are many types of voices in the world, and none of them is without sound. If I do not now know the meaning of the sound, I will be a stranger to the speaker and the speaker will be a stranger to me. So you too, as you eagerly seek out spiritual effects, strive to have abundance to build the church! Therefore: Whoever speaks in a language, pray that he can also interpret it. Because when I pray in one language my mind is praying, but my mind is without fruit. How should it be now? I want to pray with the mind, but I also want to pray with the mind; I want to praise with the mind, but I also want to praise with the mind. Otherwise, if you speak praise to the spirit, how should the one who takes the place of the uninformed speak the amen to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying? You may say thank you, but the other one is not built. I thank my God that I speak more in languages than all of you. But in the church I would rather speak five words with my mind so that I can teach others than ten thousand words in one language. You brothers, do not become children in understanding, but in wickedness are underage, but grow in understanding. The law says: "I want to speak to this people in foreign languages and with strange lips, but they won't listen to me that way either, says the Lord." That is why languages serve as a sign, not for the believers but for the unbelievers; the prophecy is not for the unbelievers, but for the believers. Now if the whole congregation came together in the same place, and everyone would speak in languages, and uninformed or unbelievers would come in, wouldn't they say that you are senseless? But if everyone prophesied and an unbeliever or an uninformed person would come in, he would be convicted by everyone, researched by everyone; and so the hidden of his heart would be revealed and he would fall on his face and worship God and confess that God is truly in you.
